I am going to be swapping 3/4 ton chevy axles into my 76 cherokee. It currently has the quadratrac t-case in it but I will be swapping in a new tail shaft and run a 208 (passenger side drop.
when I do the swap will the gas tank be in the way of drive shaft, axle, ect...?

you can run a centered t-case with the stock offset axle and be just fine, but if you have a centered rear axle you are going to hit the tank.

I would hit the tank with the stock axle in my cherokee which came with a D20, so the rear axle was only offset a littlebit. You could get a tank from an 80+ and be fine though.
I notice your avatar is of a 80+ wagoneer though?
Oh yeah, if you are going with a dodge 208, its going to hang down pretty far. although GM units arent as bad, you will need a SYE kit.

My avatar is my old jeep, so all I need is an 80+ gas tank and that would fix it?
Also what kind of modification would I need to mount that tank?

If you get the tank from the juk yard, grab the mounting hardware that it came with. I think you need to drill a few holes, but otherwise thats it. The other option is a boncro tank into the spare tire area.

I do not know all the details on the bronco tank. I know several people here have done it, so somebody should be able to pipe in on it.
The original River Beast one was here...
