And nothing to report except that it came through again with flying colors.

Gad I love this old Wag! I do try to keep ahead of things with it. And have had to do some work on front-end and suspension issues, but nothing major--except the replacement of the rear spring stacks. Other than that I did have something good to start with, as the previous owners (all in one family, BTW!) seemed to do the right things to keep it maintained over the years. And--so far--it's been like a new car to get inspected--in, out and done.

I find it nice to be able to breeze through an inspection--for a change....:D :o

With other jalopies I've had in the past I've had this process go the other way more times than I care to count....:o

Mine is due soon & I don't think they'll be any problems. I replaced a side marker lens that had a small crack in it. Those inspectors can get very picky sometimes.

Glad to hear it!!

I always hated going to inspection in CT with the beaters I used to drive..

out here you could stick a V10 in a Radio Flyer and get it registered, they just don't care :)

LOL! That's practically TRUE!!! It's a good thing that they discontinued the E-test in Larimer county for a while. My fav. mechanic closed and he always got SlushPuppy to pass. And my air pump died, too, and mysteriously disappeared. ;)

So did mine...don't quite know why I bothered bolting it onto the 401 when I dropped it in. Asthetics, I guess!

Be thankful it doesnt have to pass smog testing. It took me 6 tries to get my new 88 past emissions. Since I finally got it dialed in, it breezes through, much to the inspectors amazement.

Just out of curiosity how did you get it "dialed in" to pass the emissions tests? While the answer is not vital to me, personally, there is a boatload of others on the forum that might benefit....

from my collection of junk jeep engines, I cobbled together a more or less functional fresh air system. I studied the vacuum diagram for the 88 and replaced 30 something feet of vacuum hose. Then I bought a new OEM type cat and a universal EGR valve. And I rebuilt the carb and added fresh plugs. The idle mixture screws are set at 1 1/2 turns out instead of the factory 2 1/4 The breather hose gets "lost" for inspection purposes too :D

Sooo, I went to my local MA smog Nazis today to get my newest 88 528e inspected. Came away with some heartening intell. MA is doing away with smogging pre- 96 vehickles. It will be going away the end of 08. Something universal OBDII ports only. That lets FSJs off the hook entirely in MA

I'm about to get the 78 Waggy running and I need to get inspection done too. I paid $75 to get it done in 01/06 and didn't have the horn working.

I don't need to pass smog in Texas.......what all else are we talking about here

-horn
-seat belts
-tire tread depth
-brakes

Its been a while since I looked into, I may be able to get it to pass without paying $$$ out the a@*:D
