I'm amazed at how well sheetmetal survives in such a damp environment.

Anyone know what years the doors on the rear were used, and could you retro fit them to a later model? Thanks

Guesstimate not past 65 or 66. Since the basic body dimensions are the same you could section in the last foot of the body to get the entire door openings and doors on a later model. Unless you know sectioning techniques, best left to the pros and won't be cheap to have done.

Got a 81 Wide trac panel wagon running around here in Santa Rosa
Have an old picture of a 78 Wide trac that our company used for deliveries of hardware back in the early 80s in our office also.
both rigs had the solid panels in the rear and the barn doors. wish i could have been around to get that old delivery 78. the dude with the 81 here in santa rosa has had it since new. used it for his plumbing business and then recently restored it and gave it a 4" lift.

67 was the last year for the Panel Delivery.

When I have the money, I can't find anything I like. I didn't know panels had barn doors.
When I am broke, It's all Scramblers and Jeepsters, "sell today or else the crusher"adds, all the time.
Of course, When I lived in Florida, all the free to good home rigs were in AZ, WA. and Cali. Now I'm back in AZ, the free Jeep capital is now Virginia. Same deal with Muscle Cars.

I've always thought something like that would make a really cool company delivery van type thing, if it were restored. But then, I'd be afraid to beat it up.

Same here, as long as I have the money for a project, nothing cool ever comes along. As soon as I buy something, a better one pops up for cheaper. :D The free/supercheap ones are always on the wrong side of the country, or I don't have a place to put them at the time. Recently had to pass on a really cheap AMC Javelin, cause it was not only in Canada, but in the "farthest away from me" part of Canada. I wanted it so badly too. Ah, well. Think of all the money I'm saving by not getting more vehicles. Right?

dusty- would love to see pics of both of those if possible.
If I had the green available, I'd snatch that up in a new york second, let alone a minute.....:D

Were there pics in that Craig's List ad? When I open it, I only get text. Just wanted to know how we knew it was a panel, and what kind of shape it was it. Of course, being in Baghdad, sometimes websites don't come through. Rarely do I get to see your photobucket pictures either..
Would love to see it.

4 pics on the ad, one front and left side, one of the barn dors, one of the dash, and one of the vin plate. mark j put the two body shots at the top of the thread. Looks like a fairly decent rig except for 4 years worth of fir needles on the cowl and w/shield. But it would be at home under the christmas tree:D 2 door, solid sides instead of windows all the way to theose beautiful barn doors, still has the rhino in it.

Thanks for the discription. I think I saw a drawing by someone one here of a panel that had been lowered, raked, chopped, etc into a really awesome looking hotrod. I think a panel with the barn doors would be perfect for that.
Rhino too! And no one has drug it to their house yet?
I get reports of the landscaping being done at my house while I am over here. I can only trust that my wife is not having any of my jeep stuff hauled off as it is.. It does sound like a promising project rig!

Man, that's a great candidate for a resto- The only thing I see is that it's been converted to a floor shift and the steering column and wheel look to have been replaced (they should be white). It's got the correct seats, still has the license plate bracket and light, etc.
Good thing I didn't see this when I was out there a couple months ago!
Serial #10109 was built in June of '63 - actually it was the first one built in June of '63 (June was 10109 to 10129).
Somebody pick this up before I do something stupid!

Do something stupid Frank the 63' panel you already have would probably love to be together with its long lost sister! That and we all know you would give it a great home.:)

I would seriously consider offering my truck in trade if that thing were closer. Must be nice.
