What is the steepest angle that is "acceptable" on an 86 Waggy Drag link? I swapped a 86 Waggy front D44 into my 92 Cherokee and I want to know if I should put a drop pitman arm on or not before I fab my new trac-bar and axle mount?

you'd want to ask the guys that are more fluent with the XJs, as the steering setup is very different then our rigs. check out naxja.org

but for our rigs, as close to horizontal as possible.

The angle is not as important as how parallel the drag link and panhard bar are. If the angle between the two is significant, you will have bumpsteer.

Jeep calls it a trackbar.. :p

AND... I dont agree.. You need your draglink to be as parallel to your tie rod as possible. If you have a steep track bar, you will get bump steer regardless. On XJ's, you will need a DPA with any lift over 4"s IMO.

Also, your trackbar does need to be as flat as possible too. You WILL get bumpsteer regardless with that suspension design, but the flatter your track bar, the less bumpsteer you will get.

So, it is true that one effects the other, but they dont have to be the same. The reason people say that is because the bumpsteer will be more noticable if the angles are WAY off. The reasoning is because when you flex your XJ, the trackbar will pull the front axle towards the drivers side. In return your draglink will push your knuckle to the passenger side (opossite during compression). So, as your axle moves one way suspension steers itself the other way so neither should be tooo noticable.

Additionally, the steering box is located inside the frame and attaches to the knuckle. The trackbar mounts under the frame and connects inside of the inner C... Sooooo, there is reall no way to get the angles the same..

The reason I'm asking here is because I am using Waggy steering and the Waggy axle. I'm not using XJ steering.
