I have put them in. Depends on the year of your Wagon as to how hard it is. 79 and down is the easiest. Welcome to the Forum

Well that makes it a bit harder. I beleive there are adaptors Chevy to AMC available from advance. Though I am against buying adaptors if there is a way around it. Depending on your access to parts and donor rigs, mixing and matching Trans and T-cases and or axles anything is possible. I will be putting a 500 Caddy in my 86 J10 I will have a TH400 behind it and swap the input in the Jeep NP208 to that from a Chevy NP208. I have a few bugs to work out in this plan but its doable. Another way is to put a Chevy NP241 T-Case behind a TH400 that would also keep the driveshaft on the right side. Lots of info on this if you use the search option.

Nothing against Chevy's, but why bother with adaptors and such. Rod and Custom magazine tested a stock AMC head and it outflowed a stock 1992 Chevy LT-1 aluminum head. Don't forget, AMC set numerous speed and endurance records and won two Trans-Am championships. It's also 25 pounds lighter than a Chevy and can be easily made to produce 400HP and 450 lb/ft of torque on pump gas.

If you really want a SBC, then you might consider looking at www.gandrautoparts.com (http://www.gandrautoparts.com) and seeing what they have to offer.

Using what they have, you can install a modern (not even broken in yet) chevy drivetrain, with all the wiring, computers, etc. That would make for a much easier swap, and you'd get the bennies of a up to date drivetrain.
