Does anyone know where I can get new aluminum valve covers? I've re-sealed the original metal ones on my 360 3 times now and they still leak. The metal is too weak to hold b/c the previous owner cranked it down too tight...

Edelbrock did and still does i think, and Offenhauser did and prolly still does. They Edelbrocks i had had leaks in between the fins because they weren't finished properly.
Performance Automotive Warehouse carries Edelbrock stuff, Offenhauser may be harder to get a hold of. Hope this helps.

Is it to late to knock the holes back out with a ball-peen hammer from the under side?
Check this out. Oucheee!

Dude! beatin on cast aluminum is a good way to ensure no one will use it again,...CRACKY CRACKY. http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/wink.gif Especially if its seen head heat, and motor oil! my old ones were cracked around the bottom from some turkey at a garage torking the piss out of em when he installed new gaskets...same guy left an oily rag on my left header...Thats when i decided to start doing my own wrenching on my jeep!

I was tring to save him some mony, and re-use the old covers.
Read carfully. Thomas DeBusk said he re-sealed his metal ones 3 times. This is an old trick to freshin up old metal covers.
I hope this clears this up

JC Whip-me has chrome covers very reasonable. I posted a question about it before the board got hacked and somebody said they had them and they were fine.

I guess i'm unclear as to what thomas HAS...old aluminum v/cs, or steel ones. if you hammer on aluminum ones they most likely will crack out. I impied from his post that he had OLD aluminum V/Cs and was looking for NEW Al v/cs. Maybe he has old steel v/cs and isn't looking for old used Al v/cs. IDON'TKNOW! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/wink.gif thomas, care to clarify?

Yeah, I have the original STEEL covers, which now have the holding power of tissue, precisely because they have been beat on.

you should be able to find stock ones at any junkyard if you don't wanna spend the extra dough for Al ones. they're the same for 304/360/401 except i think 401s have a boss stamped in the top for a breather if you wanna punch a hole and put one...i'm unsure of which actually have this but i got some somewhere! Maybe they just came on later (or earlier) model amc v8s...
