I was BSing with a buddy of mine in his garage. He has a 70's cj with an AMC 360. He's using a late model ford 460 distributor, says it was a direct bolt-in and routed the wires quite nicely I thought. Anyone seen or heard or done this? I'd love to know more, If this is a new mod, I'll hound him for more info and report back. I seemed like a really cool upgrade.

you can put the cap and rotor on your current dizzy right now. It's part of the TFI upgrade. The little metal thingies <it's late, ok?> are farther apart, which helps to supress random spark arcing, and is capable of deliving more of the spark to the wire. Also looks a little bit cooler smile.gif

There shouldn't be any difference really between the two other then 460 is set a lil differently. It will be curved differently and have different springs in it but thats about it. Look at it this way, if you have a 200lb monkey and a 300lb monkey they are still both monkeys.

It is the dura spark distributor and I've read that it does work in the AMC V8.

I'd be surprised if the housings (not just the cap and electronics) were identical.

You know bob, so would i. I've seen the 460 dist. before, and now that i think back on it, it did look remarkably similar to my TFI distributor.
