Hey guys...I've been lurking on this site for a few years and have dealt with a few of you and I need a little help, if i may be so bold as to ask.

I live in Canada and bought my daughter her first car, a 1997 Honda Accord, which she decided to customize within the first month...with another car. I know I should of bought her a Waggy but she can't affort the gas and I just don't think the kids can really treat them right these days. Anyway, my wife and I have a great understanding that she never questions any of my Jeep purchases as long as I keep the rest of the vehicles going to there is my dilema...my daughter needs a car to driver her and her sister to school, my wife then uses my truck to drive the boy to and from school and I ended up having to get a ride to Jeep night last night.

Accordingly, I need to repair her car, at her expense for parts, so I can get my truck on the road so I can get to my buddy's house and fix the old J20 like I should've so I don't need to be in this predicament again.

The root of my problem is that I need a front bumper reinforcement for a 1997 Honda Accord EX 4 door with the V6 and the only place that I can get it is through a dealer. No one makes this thing anywhere that I can find. As some of you may have heard, the Canadian dollar has risen to par with the USD or even a little higher, which is screwing with our economy right now, but Canadians are realizing that there is no reason for Honda or any other manufacturers to tack on a 30% premium for Candians to buy the same thing that you guys buy in the US. Canadians are exercising a rare bit of backbone and coming down to see you guys to buy a car for less money. Subsequently, Honda and many other manufacturers will not allow their dealers to sell to Canadians but will allow an American to buy a car, register it with a US address, and then sell it to a Canadian to bring over the border, now as a used car, with no problem. somehow, everything is better then...go figure.

I am not looking for that kind of help but I am looking for someone to buy one of these bumper reinforcements which sell for over $300.00 CAD here, but only $131.00 USD in the US, and be so kind as to call UPS to ship it up here to me. UPS will then just charge me about $68.00 to ship it, along with the excessive expediting fee that they like to charge all of us Canadians...they must work with Honda. I don't want anyone to risk any money so I will either bank draft the money or e-mail it on line or send it through paypal prior to anyone having to do anything...I've dealt with the Brent at BJ's a couple of years ago and they got their money and I got my 6" lift and bumpers.

So if anyone has some time, I know it's precious, and can either help me out here or point me in the direction that I can get this done, I'd really appreciate it.

Greg

sounds like a pricey part either way you do it i would help you out but being in iraq is kida a drag on helping people anyways what you might want to do is try your local junk yard or pull-a-part they may have it at a greatly reduced price just an idea though good luck on your search

If all else fails, I have a Fedex account I can use, plus I can use our Fedex account at work from time to time which may save you a little more. Let me know.

Might check with Parts Channel or Keystone and see if an aftermarket reinforcement is available for it. They are knock offs, but a whole lot cheaper than OEM.

Do I get to keep 80% of the bumper if I do? Wait.... that's the Nigerian scam! :D I would be more than happy to help but a little too far south. If you would be interested in used parts check this site www.car-part.com (http://www.car-part.com) Good luck with the fix.

If you can get me a pic of what you need, I can search up all the yards around here. Might be cheaper than International shippin'

(Im In Ontario)

But a pic would rock and I can see what I can do.

A ten-year-old ricebucket should have many of its brethren in the boneyard by now, so one would think a good search there would find an OEM part in not too bad a shape, and a fraction of the $$$ the stealership would get for new.
