Are they just going to start with a complete rebuild or are you going to see if it is useable as is?

You know, I figured if I'm going to pull it anyway I might as well get it checked out and at a minimum freshen the rings, gaskets and seals.

It did seem to run just fine when I started it, but the headers were leaking so I could not hear the motor too well I also did not want to strain the motor, so I diddn't test it out too much.

On another note, When I pulled it, I did see it had a brand new water pump, fuel pump, dizzy cap, plugs wires. So I hope there is a good chance that the Machine Shop I took it too will let me know that is was recently rebuilt and within tolerances.

Well good luck FLYUSMC I hope that the machine guy is honest and lets you know if it's in good condition. I once bought a 401 at a swap meet for $200.00 because the guy said it was junk. I bought it for the parts. One day when I was bored I started to check it out. I did a leakdown and it was less than 10%, the distributor gear on the fromt of the cam was shot and it needed valve seals since the got brittle and fell off. I replaced the seals, gear and it ran in my Javelin for like 30,000 miles before I took it out and went through it. If it's going to be a daily driver I would evaluate it as is before I spent a lot of $$ on it.
