Hello, Just seeing what everyone recomends for cleaning a 74 factory 4brl intake manifold. I would like for everything to be cleaned like inside, exaust passages, oil and coolant ports. I woudl basically like to start w/ a virgin manifold. I have heard of dipping them but was curious to see if anyone else had done anything. Thank you Craig
Oven cleaner...wear gloves and eye protection.

if you want the manifold to be like new, in and out, then dipping or steam cleaning is the only way.
Sand blasting and brake cleaner has been my strategy in the past. Take you time and get all the stuff you can out of there. I use masking tape on the mounting flange areas to prevent any scoring.

Thank you to all who have replied, I took everyone's advice and used a grease cutter(better than oven cleaner) It is Castrol Super Clean. Sprayed that one let it sit a few minutes sprayed it again left it sit a few minutes......then hosed it off. The underside is actually very clean. Bare cast Iron to be exact. Now I am gonna bead blast it then paint it. Thank you to all again. Craig
