I am preparing to install a 4" Superlift Suspension lift on my 83 J-10. Anybody out there who has already done this, on a longbed J10, that can lend some "lessons learned"? The kit doesn't include longer brake lines...are they needed? Was there any driveline vibration issues? What was the fix? I will be using the lift blocks on the rear, so has anybody experienced spring-wrap problems with this setup? As soon as I get it done, I'll post some pics... smile.gif

did the 4" superlift on my 81 cherokee. Went new springs all around so not sure about the blocks. Had one problem with the rear, there is a wedge on the bottom of the spring that is narrower then the spring perch on the amc 20 which caused the perch to crush after some heavy wheeling. ended up putting new wider wedge shims in place and beefing up the perches. Other problem that I had on the front was the shackles are the wrong size for the springs so had to go with some gm shackles, about inch longer but fits fine. Was able to run with the original brake lines, mounts relocated..but was worried about droop off road with the sway bar disconnected so I got longer ones for the front, rear is ok but might go longer this winter just cause the rear is starting to look rough. Suspension was really stiff when I first put her on but it has loosened up nicely over the last 6 mths. wheeling. :D

Hmm.. Superlift.. I've been there... here's what you'll need...

Life insurance
Extra Cushioning on the seats
Pitman ARM!!!
and the rest of your jeep's life in patience.

Longer shackels would be beneficial if you bounce on these springs hard enough. They tend to shoot the shackles under the front bumper and get stuck there until you hit another bump hard enough to pop em free. They don't flex! They're "Superstiff" lifts smile.gif

I wouldn't have had it any other way on my J-20 though... I liked bouncing.

 oh yeah, thats the other thing I forgot.lol also got the 4" drop pitman arm. Also had a problem this summer bending my front springs , think this resulted from banging my shackles climbing out of holes.

...why is it I'm starting to already get the feeling I should go with a 4" Rusty's kit?.......

The ride quality is definately better with Rusty's spring pack. The other issue is the price. He is so much cheaper because he doesn't have full page adds in every 4x4 magazine on the earth. He will also stick by his products. I know I have purchased several of his parts and kits. Plus he wheels his just as much if not more than all of us!!

I decided to go with BDS 4" from David Allen Racing. I also opted for the dropped pitman arm ;) I didn't get the shocks as I want the Coil-Over shocks.
I decided to go w/ David Allen Racing because they cut us a dicount :D and David is FSJ savy too :D
