Ive seen some of those adapters in auto parts stores. Are they any good? I think they would be worthless. Has anyone used them?

Worthless.

The ability to physically mount a 4 barrel carb to a two barrel manifold does not mean it will run like a 4 barrel manifold. Worthless unless you want to be able to say, "I've got a 4 barrel under there." Mixture problems galore. If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing right. - dave

The only benefit I could see is if the adapter could be flipped and mount a two barrel to a four barrel manifold. This could make sense for a rock crawler or trail rig. But, then again, if you're going to have a four barrel manifold, why not have the four barrel carb.?

It would also work if you used a SMALL 4bbl... It would give you a little more throttle response... The idea would be to not go much higher(in cfm rating) than your 2bbl is rated, that way you've got smaller venturies which would produce better atomization and intake velocity due to 4 small bores as opposed to 2 large ones... A similar subject is TPI vs TBI, not the same but similar...
