how many people out there are not running a steering stablizer on their offroad only rigs? i know the purpose of them for on the road, but is there really any reason to have them for off road? my j10 never sees pavement and when if it ever will it'll only be from a trail.

None here since the build, off-road or on the hiway it drives fine.

I got tired of hanging them up on rocks and stumps and causing it to bend the steering. waiste of money IMO.

One thing they help with off road is like when your going down a trail and one of your tires catch a rock or stump or a rut... instead of ripping the steering wheel out of your hands it dampens it a little. Just my two cents

Yeah, I found that ruts, especially at higher speeds in the snow, the stabilizer DOES help!
For slow stuff it never seemed to help much for me though.

Besides, the BEST one to get would be a hydro assist!

I snapped the stud off the plat on mine, so I have not had one for a while. I DO notice not having it on there. It drives ok, but I deffinately noticed the difference.

Just my two cents I noticed the stabilizer you use has a coil spring on it? How well does that work and who makes it?

I don't know that much about the one on mine. My dad brought it home from work a while ago cause they were going to send it back. He was telling me that it is for a motor home, Its a self centering stabilizer. Apparentlly the spring works two ways. I like it though, it seems to work pretty good, its just REALLY stiff. My steering box is shot so it makes it pretty hard to turn especially with the grant steering wheel I have. But before the box was completely shot it turned it just fine even with the big tires. I like how it works, but thats just me lol.

I just went out and looked at it and it says, 4 way by Trail Master.

I took mine off in 05 when I did my SOA.. I noticed it gone at highway speeds, but not at slow speeds or on trails.

I snapped mine off a couple of years ago and haven't yet got around to replacing the mount. On a rig with power steering, I think that about all they do is protect the steering box from some shock load, which is no small benefit.
