My front doors keep closing on me as I'm getting in- the last time it darn near caught my fingers! The rear doors have springs in the hinges to hold the doors open, but I can't find the same thing for the front doors.
Is there some kind of mechanical detent or spring system on the front doors to keep them open?

There's a friction system that wears out over time. Check out this thread for pictures and an explanation. http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=49836&highlight=door

Replace 'em--or arrange a bit of a tail wind when opening the door to keep it open.

stick your foot out so it closes on your leg instead.

Thanks for the replies- they explained it perfectly. Now, is there any source for new friction pads? All the trucks being parted out have got to have the same issue or are near to it. Any suggestions on a material I can buy and cut to stick in there?
Jeez, Al- I almost lose my fingers and now you want to cost me my leg??

Well, you can use foam strip insulation around the door edge as padding. Double it where you normally grab your fingers
I can fabricate a few sets of the friction pads if there's enough interest. I got used to the doors swinging freely and I've never seen one working properly so I don't miss them.
