For some reason, the idle in my '83 jumps up to about 2x normal when it gets warmed up. I havent messed with the carb settings. It only started doing this after i replaced & repaired a few vacuum lines and leaks.
I suspect the PO turned up the idle to compensate for the vac leaks.
Am i on the right track, or could it be more than that??
thanks in advance.

Your logic makes sense. Just turn the idle screw(not the mix screws) down to what it's supposed to idle at and see what happens. You can always turn it back up again.

Or, could be a vacuum leak. Mine was doing the same until I noticed a vacuum port on top of the manifold, BEHIND the carb with no hose or cap attached. Also, check the carb to for open ports. I put a cap on and no more fast, racing scary idle!

Could be a weak return spring. If you can tap the gas and bring it back down, go get a new spring and it should work fine.

i checked, its not the spring, im gonna check for vac leaks and then twist the idle screws if i dont find any. smile.gif
