hey guys, its been a while since ive been on here, been busy with work, but now i finally have time to continue with my fsj project. does any know where i can get performance parts for my 4.2l inline 6? i was thinking of dropping in a v8 but i think my rig is pretty rare cause i have never seen another grand wagoneer with one so ive decided to keep it in there, atleast for now, but i want to upgrade it. so if anyone knows of a site or something let me know.

The I-6's in Grand Wagoneers IS pretty unusual. However, unless you're going to keep it bone stock, IMHO, there's no reason not to swap out to a V8.
But I'd ONLY do it if your I6 has something wrong with it and needs to be replaced AND if you have a FREE V8 just laying around taking up room. Otherwise, that little I6 is reported to be a fine motor, even in something as heavy as an FSJ.

yeh that thing can climb any thing in low but im looking to upgrade it know of anyone that supplies parts for those, ive been looking but no luck
first and foremost do the tfi/hei ignition upgrade
then consider a new carb
4.0L HO head swap adds 40+ hp
If you want to dump some money into the 258 then clifford makes one heck of a performance kit for about 2500. Consists of a ported balanced blueprinted 4.0L type head, a cam, 4 barrel intake, 4 barrel carb, and true dual exhaust headers. Estimated numbers are higher than a stock 401 ;)
If you dont mind putting in a diff block, build a stroker out of a 4.0 and the 258. MUCH cheaper than Cliffords package. Cutting the price of the 1300 dollar clifford head out of the equation is the biggie as you can probably find an entire 4.0l block for less than 500. This includes shopping around for good deals though.
A bare essentials stroker wont match the cliffords power, but a stroker plus similar upgrades from the clifford package (carb/intake/cam) will produce more power and probably for about the same or less money as the clifford kit.

A lot of the baby Jeep catalogs have performance stuff for 258's - 4WD Hardware, Quadratec, etc.
