Just a reminder to everyone that you can't trust everyone, like you can most Jeeper's.
I went to the local boneyard " U-WRENCH IT" and I found a great 76 Cherokee Chief and an 87 G-WAG parked nose to nose. I wanted the manual rear window crank from the 76 so I stopped at sears and bought a set of Torx/Star sockets to remove it. Well I brought my entire tool box, because I was not sure exactly what I would need. I wheeled it into the lot in a wheel barrow, and parked it at the rear tailgate of the Jeep. I remembered that I needed some vacuum line an didn't want to fortet, so I went to the front of the Wag and started pulling Vac lines, no more than 5 minutes I took the lines to the back of the Chief and to my surprise.... no wheelbarrow and no tools    Well after much frustration and a police report, my insurance company took care of me, for an increase in my fee of course. Just a warning guy's be careful

I had the same thing happen a work last year. I was working on one of our overhead conveyors so I rolled my toolbox back to where I was working. I walked of for ten minutes to get some parts and found my toolbox was nearly empty. Lucky they where the company tools but I could not finish what I was doing without them.

Same happened to me....put down my tool box for a few minutes. Had to walk between closly parked cars to get an alt off a mustang. Came back and the box was empty. Luckily there wasn't much there and everything was cheapy walmart tools.
There were only 2 other guys in the lot and they were speeding away when I came out running for them with my breaker bar.

Man, that's bad luck. These thiefs must be pretty stealthy...and stupid. Anyone trying to steal my tools are going to get beaten with them if I catch him.
You guys have it rough with the wheel barrows. There is a yard up here that has a $30 for whatever you can carry out policy. So I take a five foot pipe, a big pad, and four five gallon buckets in when I go. First I load up everything that looks of any value in the buckets. Lights, lenses, emblems, radios... The last time I was there I got both front doors off a GW. Slid the pipe through the vent windows, then put two full buckets on each side, then the pad on the back of my neck, and off I go. I don't know how much weight I had on, but I would estimate around 200 lbs. All I know is that i'm glad I had my wife there to drive me home. My legs were shaking so bad by the time I got to the truck that I couldn't hardly stand up anymore. :D

SAY HUMP!!! YOU JUST MADE MY BACK GO INTO SHOCK!!!! :D
Yep, that happened to my Dad a couple years back. We were outside in the driveway working on the Jeep and we both went inside for some lunch, came back outside and his entire toolbox was gone. It was behind the Jeep so you couldn't even see it from the sidewalk/street. It was a nice Craftsman socket set and a bunch of misc stuff, all in all he probably lost between $300-400 dollars in tools

I frequent a local yard that has a deal only on Saturdays for $40, They even let you come in during the week and remove the parts and wait 'til Saturday to pick them up. You have to carry the parts the length of the truck scales without stopping. I think they do it for laughs. I have carried an entire radiator support w/grille out. On another trip I got a 727/D20 & a T19/D20 at the same time. Nearly killed me.
I use a seabag, an ALICE pack and piece of 3" conduit with a heavy duty cargo strap through it. I wear the seabag on my chest, the ALICE pack on my back, and the conduit across my shoulders resting on the pads from the pack. I usually cram as many small part as possible into the bags. I decided not to risk injuring myself since, but I still get a load when I go.

Hey guy's I guess I have mixed feelings on this I am glad I am not the only one, at the same time I am Pi**ed off at your guy's losses. I wasn't looking for sympathy, but thanks. Just wanted to get the word out to the guy's that you can't be too careful in those places.

DM, you talking about the one on Truman Rd.? I was out there about a month ago and they had no FSJ's. Sounds like you lucked out onthe parts at least. BTW, enjoyed meeting you the other day, was really busy at work, wish I would have had some time to go eat lunch or something. Did marv at s and s do you all right? He's not the one causing your manifold troubles is he?

With both jobs I work all the time except Monday. i'll give you a holler/email/warning sometime, what station you work out of? I actually put 4 days together off time, going to Tuttle this weekend with my little brother and wouldn't you know it? the wag starts smoking a little more, just enough to make me nervous, so the Suburbans going to make this trip.
HOLY CRAP MATT!!! You must be a heck of a big guy! You would have a minimum of 400lbs with the two tranny/t-case combos!!!   That's alot to dead lift then try to walk with!
Not trying to one up you, but I had to walk a couple hundred yards with mine in sand, because the yard was in Michigan, and they always park the Jeeps in the back. I'm 6'1" and weigh in at 165 lbs, so I think I will stick with body parts and pay somebody else to carry out the drivetrain stuff! :D

The Marine Corps helps keep me in shape. I'm only 5'9" and 195 lbs. I got lucky, the forklift driver on the yard likes me and uses the forklift to carry my stuff to the scales. I don't intend to try my luck again. It's not worth the injury.
That reminds me, I went there a few months after my last trip and found a couple of screwdrivers & pliers still in the Wagoneer that I got the radiator support from. I lost my entrenching tool last month out there. Cost me an extra $12 the way I figure it. Gear adrift is a gift.
I want to scout out some more parts as soon as the over-time slacks off.
