for those not using a fan clutch... what size spacer are you using? thanks.

A typical spacer will place the new fan the same distance away from the water pump as the former clutch did. That is typically 2 1/2 to 3 inches.

I think the fan too far away from the radiator would reduce cooling effectiveness, which is why the above is true. Just make sure the blade pitch doesn't get too close to the radiator for comfort.

I'm trying to figure out if my spacer is too long.. or if i have frame/radiator flexing issues that need to be dealt with...
i believe the one that I have right now is 3"... and it made contact... okay, it ate my radiator.. .

I have a 2" spacer on the front of the 401, no probs hitting radiator,
