Timing specs on V-8 '87 Grand Wagoneer?

Hey guys,

I'm helping a buddy get his '87 Grand Wagoneer tuned tomorrow & was wondering what the proper timing is. I know its a V-8 but I'm not sure what size engine it is if they have more than one V-8. Thanks in advance for any info.

my 88 is 12 degrees btdc, warmed up, idle at 600(i think) in gear, with the vac line to the distributor removed and plugged. i think the 87 is the same. of course i dont go by the numbers, i just power tune it, like most of the others on this site. set it to 6-8 degrees, run it under load, like up a grade at 65-75 mph, and see if it pings. if it does, retard the timing and try again. if it doesnt, advance it till it does, and then back it off a little till it doesnt.
