I am putting one on my 81 cause it sits further in than the original grill. It sits about 3" further in toward the radiator, and I am cutting the front and moving my bumper inward. The winch would hit the stock grill.
Anyway, i have a good rhino, that I wire brushed the rust off. Came out real well, but it is just slightly dull bare metal. I know it will rust immediatly with rain. I was thinking about painting it black to match my bumpers and such. Or is there something I can spray on there to keep the metal from rusting? Like some type of clear coat in a can? Thanks, Dennis

It woulddent cost much to have it re-chromed, then it would look really nice smile.gif For some reason I dislike painted rhino grills. Chrome just makes them stand out and look good.

Buff it up real well and wax the $hit out of it. That should keep it from rusting, long as you keep it waxed. Otherwise paint or get rechromed.

if you polish it up, try Mother's metal polish that stuff can make a bedpan look good.

It really doesn't look bad, It just needs some coating to keep away rust. I will look into some of your suggestions. Thanks, Dennis

I'll second the clear coat, alot of show car guys have their aluminum stuff clear coated to protect it from corrosion and to help make it shine.
