I posted this under someone else's topic but I thought I would post here too.

I am having trouble getting the springs to fit in the frame and shackle with the thick new bushings. I think I am going to take an angle grinder to it tomorrow. I figure about 1/16th - 1/8th in off of each side of the spring and I should be able to force it into the frame and shackle. If this is going to screw it up, please, somebody stop me! I have been hammering for about an hour and it just ain't going on.

Although I have't delt with this I have had some trouble getting my springs back in..what I did was lube it up really good with some oil and then twisted while I hammered and the twisting made a world of a difference...

I might try the grease first. I still wonder if it'll damage the springs to take a little off the sides.

Ah yes...you got to take the grinder to 'em. Grease will help to!!!
I had to do the same thing.

Good Luck!

I got the front springs installed this weekend. The backs are going to have to wait until next week. I tell you, not one thing about those springs fit. Not the springs into the frame bracket, not the springs into the shackle - on either side, not the spring bolt into the axle saddle, nothing. I've worn out four grinder blades and a rubber mallet! The shocks fit, that's it. But they didn't come with shock boots so it looks kinda funny. All this and it is sitting about 1.5 - 2 in higher on the driver side. Any ideas how to fix the height difference? Good news is that it looks like I'm going to get between 5 and 6 in of lift out of it! Guess I have to buy those 33's!

Who makes these springs you are having so much trouble with?

They would be Rusty's 4".

Stanwood- Did you tighten the u bolts once it was on the ground? If you tightened them while it was in the air then that explains the hight diffrence. Better make sure that Rusty did not send you one of his 6" springs. Seems to be a common problem lately of him sending out the wrong stuff. Anyway if you need any help, call me . 817-284-3398

Michael, tried calling you but no answer.

I did tighten the ubolts while it was up. Should I jack it back up, loosen them, lower it and then tighted them? Should I do it to both sides?

I don't think they're the wrong springs, I think the old springs were just sagging a bit.

Thanks for the help.

Yes Stanwood, You will need to jack it back up and loosen the u bolts. Set it back down bounce the rig a few times and tighten them and torque them on the ground. You will need to do both sides that way...and front to back. This allows the spring to sit in the proper position and allows the spring to compress. Sorry I missed your call I was out playing in the dirt in North Fort Worth with Coletrickle and Turtlejoe today. If you called and it rang and rang...more than likely I was on here...I am cheap only one phone line!!! You can call my mobile anytime. 682-554-1581

standwood, No need to loosen U-bolts, I think Michael ment the eye bolts, one at each end of the springs, total of 8 bolts.
You do not want to torque these without weight on the springs, just loosen them all let the vehicle settle, some what a day or two to torque. this lets the spring flex, with weight on the wheels, then torque.
Good Luck

Ya, not the u-bolts, just the eye bolts. Also make sure you dont have them on backwards, as that would make them really tuff to get on. Mine went on super easy.
