Steering "Rag Joint"

How does the "rag joint" - where the steering shaft goes into the steering box - work on a '88 Grand Wagoneer? Is there a splined shaft where the steering column connects to the gearbox?

Trying to keep it in my lane...

uhhmn,iirc there is a clamp the a bolt runs thru,in a horizontal groove milled into the shaft.
