Hi
Last night I went to a ride along the Jordan river with my wagoneer 85 and I had some troubles.
first there was a heavy rain and leak leak leak from the front let corner is a leaking on my left knee.
second I tried to use my tailgate electric window and down it goes very good but up it seems like the electric motor have not enough power to lift the window.
How can I solve this 2 problems?
I think I will replace the door seal.
What is the best way to fix the tailgate window?
should I choose between electric or manual window or I can use both?
Is it a kit for fix the tailgate.

Thanks amit

Amit, so far as cars go...well they're sorta all the same when they get older. They leak. You'll just have to spend some time with a garden hose spraying here...there and try to find it and then correct it.
For the tailgate look in the tech library of this site. There are some good write ups on repairs. You can also do a search here in the forums with words like "tailgate" and find past threads.
I would recommend converting to manual just because I don't like electrical stuff and it's reliabilty rate but here in the US it's hard to find parts to convert to a manual tailgate. I would think in Israel it's even harder. Probably best(easiest) to just fix what you have. Good luck.

Amit,
I agree with -joe here on the switch to a maual if you can find the parts, I can picture that being a very big problem for you. The tailgate not going up is probably related to the tracks on the sides coming apart or being out of alignment.
Here is an overview of the many tailgate problems, some solved some not...
"Search For Tailgate" (http://www.studiosells.net/cgi-bin/keyword-search.cgi?words=tailgate)
...you can refine the search further by using words and phrases like...
"rear window", "tailgate motor", "tailgate track"
be creative, not all posts were titled as to the real problem or fix involved, good lock.

Doesn't BJ from BJ's offroad have the manual kit? I thought I remember seeing it on his website.

I saw in BJ's that lots of kind of wipes.
What wipes I need to order to seal leaks of water?

Is the "Door Window Wipe Kit - 4 Door
Inner and Outer Wipes - 8 Piece Kit" suppose to solve the problem?

amit, my guess on the water leak is from the upper drivers corner of the windshield. I've have leaks from there. but then again, it leaked down the inside of the window and thru the dash.

A good greesin on the tailgate will help. Will be cheaper then converting it if money is tight. A good cleaining will help it until you convert it to manual.

I had the same leak on my left knee. It was from the top left corner of the windshield. The sealant there had started to deteriorate.

wow,i also had the left knee leak from the left upper corner of the windshield.didnt realize it was that common.
if i'm not mistaken the wipes are the rubber part where the window goes into the door.that shouldnt give you a leak like you described.probably the windshield like everybody else said.
good luck! smile.gif

Well...stiff window regulators are a common problem. Mine were all stiff. I have discovered that what happens to them is dirt and dust gets all over the greasy mechanisms which causes them to bind up. I've taken all mine apart, cleaned them with solvent and put new grease on them. They seem to work fine now. It's a time consuming job though. Good luck.

Amit,
It's great to know you are wheeling a FSJ in
Israel. Pics would be great. As far as the rear
window goes, open everything up, clean everything
and use a dry lubricant such as powdered graphite.
It will not attract dust and dirt as will most
others. Also clean all the related electrical
connections and grounds for the rear window
motor. The connections corrode over time and
create resistance, lowering the voltage to the
motor, making it less powerful.

--How 'bout going down to the hardware store and picking up some 50-year clear silicone chaulking and a gun. The stuff is water-proof, plyable when dry, and cheap/easy to work with...? ;)
--Oh, and amit, welcome to the forum! When you drive the Jordon, don't forget those extra magazines and flak-vest... ;)

How I put pictures in the forum?
I think the message in the forum can add an attachment.

You can register for a free account here:

FullSizedJeeps (http://www.fullsizejeeps.com/jeeps/index.php)

And upload the pictures to the approiate location there and then use the "image" button of the Instant UBB Code area right below where you type in your post and copy and paste in the URL of the image and it should appear in your post. You may have to tinker with it a couple of times to get familiar with it. Hope this helps and doesn't confuse. smile.gif
