not sure if any of u remeber. but a week ago i was having probs with my oil pump. well, it wasnt the pump. i have come to find out the my main bearing are bad.
so can i change these with the motor still in the truck? i did this brfore on a ford f-150. but we ended up having to pull the trans to do it.
can i pull the pan and change the bearing one by one?

You will have to slide the tranny back...but you can do it. I personally would just pull it....but that is my .02

Cow Catcher...it's definately doable. After you get it done you'd wished ya pulled it  .
It's also going to be tight if you don't disconnect the tranny.
Good Luck!

my main bearings are bad too.... and any way i look at it, i gotta pull the engine.
If the mains are bad, then chances are the crank needs to be ground some, like to .10, and the block will have to be line bored....
Just hope you don't get a spun main..... :(

Cow catcher,
I might regret this in the future but, I'm a sucker for Pa-er's. How much time you got. If you can wait till the spring. I'll have a complete running motor with 80k for sale. Else if you can't wait shortly I'll have a "rebuilt" motor less the intake for sale. If your interested mail me I'll give you more info.

You can remove the bearings with the crank and engine in-place; just use the cotter-pin trick that most every Chilton's manual describes.
That said, if the journals are grooved, it would be a stop-gap measure until you could afford a rebuild. Plus the problem may also involve the rod bearings.
I would suggest swapping in a better-running 360 for now; that would give you time to rebuild this motor, and if you look around, you could probably find a motor to get you by for about the cost of a set of bearings.
