When I married my wife June 12th, 1993 I also "married" a 1975 Jeep Wagoneer. She and I have been thru a lot since then. So have my wife and I too. Everything from taking a part the axles in the snow to swimming in tranny fluid in our apartment parking lot to having the 401 rebuilt. For the last seven years or so I've not driven it. I took the time in '03 to change the oil and run it for a bit.
We've always just kept it around due to the memories and as a "just in case" vehicle.
Well "just in case" finally came up! Our Venture van has a radiator fluid leak and until I can get it fixed my wife needs a ride.
I added some gas, installed a new battery and after a few minuets of pumping and cranking she started up. I have to say that It sure was nice to hear that 401 w/24" glass packs. I didn't realize how much I missed it. I still have to go thru her and check stuff but thought I'd post up that I'm back after a long hiatus.

Great story... glad you kept it around. You never know... and what it says about our trucks to know that it started up...

Nice! That story reminds me of when I resurrected my 74 J10 after my dad had parked it for about 7 years. It is a great feeling when they first fire up.

Good to see another one getting back in working order and used again. Maybe you won't wait another 7 years to try and drive it again. Nice wag and that thing does have some attitude.

Thx all! That front end has a horror story behind it too. Due to rust, I cut away lots on the front, back and wheel wells. A friend and I did a homemade lift consisting of cold bent rear springs and used Rancho front springs off of a wrecked '86 Wagoneer.
Now it was time to test it. Unknown to me I had also cut away some of the metal that supported the radiator from moving back and forth. It was sturdy on the street BUT would move a couple of inches backwards if hitting an obstacle head on. Of course during my "testing" I tried getting over a rock ledge about 3' high head on. I heard a noise and did not take heed of it. A few more tries and ignoring of noise, I had made it!
I had also put my radiator into my brand new Flex fan blade. I was able to limp home. I over heat a few times and praise the Lord I did not damage the engine. I sprung my temp gauge so it reads 180 when cold. When I got home I pulled the radiator and soldered closed the bad passes.
I still need to buy a radiator, clutch and blade. The radiator holds water and my current setup is no clutch and bent Flex fan blade.
I found a 4 core from Checker Auto (PartsAmerica.com) for $240.00. It's a GDI Heat Buster 436004.
So there we have my last trail story, until I get it fixed of course! It's good to be back BTW.
