I saw some blistering paint on driver's side door bottom. So I checked the drainage holes to see if they were blocked. Found a piece of metal covering the third one from the front on both driver & passenger side. Looks like it's supposed to be there. Is it?

Don't think so. Could be part of a window track or a door panal clip.

Sure looked strange. My first thought was something broke off inside door. But when the same hole on pass side had it, thought it probably came from the factory that way.

From memory my 83 Cherokee had some plastic things with what looked like a filter clipped into each of the door drains. My 88 grand (rust in peace) did not have these. (The Cherokee was fancier than the Grand so I figured they were for sound deadining)

My 84 Wag had three drains in each front door, two (I think) in the rear. Some had plastic or rubber inserts that felt very hard to the touch. The drain holes "missing" these items were still clear enough to drain as the hole is larger without the insert. All the drains with the inserts were clogged up.
