The clear coat was coming off of the steel spoke wheels, so I stripped it all off today. They look great. Just like new. I want to keep them looking good for another 20 years and I need to reapply a clear coat. HAs anyone else done this? what kind or clear coat should I use and is there any tricks or things I should do before I apply it? I want it to last and I don't wnat it to flake back off right away.

Rustoleum makes a clear coat for bare metal, about $4/can from Home Depot. I have used it with good success. They claim it doesn't yellow with age.
