Is there supposed to be a spring in the horn? My horn's not working and I popped the horn pad off. Everything looks fine, but I'm used to seeing a spring in there. The disabled horn is probably something else. Suggestions? But, I wondered if a spring would help.

Well, a way to test this is to, remove the pad once again, and try to honk the horn, if it shocks you, you have power TO the button, then, you must track the wiring to the horn it self, and see if power is getting there or not.

no spring, only a foam pad between 2 metal plates. my horn had this foam in it, but was so weak, that it practically honked itself every time you sneezed in its general direction. i added a 2nd foam pad to keep the contacts seperated and the horn works normally now. also check to make sure that both wires are connected(one to power, the other to ground)

There is no foam padding on the 79 models. Usually, when the horn doesn't work, it's a power problem, rarely is it in the horn actuating assembly. When the assembly fails, it's usually fails to the "always on" side.
