I have a 1967 Jeep j-3000 4x4 with a AMC 327 in it. I can't find a starter for it anywhere. Everyone says they never made a AMC 327 in 1967. Where can I find a starter, and what year is the motor.

I hate to say it good luck finding one. I had an extra but I sold it. Does yours have the starter selinoid on it or is yourson the fender? I may know where one is depending on the type you have. Best thing is to rebuild it.

I also know what you mean by "there is no such thing"

It is a Rambler/Kaiser/Jeep motor. It was designed by Rambler and used by Jeep in their FSJ vehicles for two or three years. Tell the parts guy it is a Rambler 327 if he doesn't know what a Kaiser Jeep Vigilante 327 is. Or maybe you need to find a new parts guy.

Those things are very hard to find. I bought a brand new out of a Willys Jeep place that I found on the internet, my advice is to look on the internet. I have also heard that this is a weakness for this motor, the engine heat is said to ruin the selinoid. I hope yours is on the fender.

P.S. I guess that means that every one is wrong if you have one, I think my spare motor is also a 67.

By the way I think that the Rambler 327 may have used a different starter as opposed to the Vigilante 327
