I am just wondering what the difference is between the pre 73' bumper mounts and the post 74' mounts are.
Thanks

I don't believe there are any. I put a bumper from a 78 J10 on my 73 J4000 and the brackets were the same.

On my 72 Wag the mounts are alot different than on later models. I'm not sure when the switch over was (I believe around 75) but the later ones have two mounting holes near the end of the frame horn. Mine has a single mounting bolt on the front crossmember and two mounting holes about 15 inches back along the frame rail. Mounted to these holes are bent strap steel brackets that are then mounted to the bumper. Theres a pic on here of a winch bumper on the later frame, that shows the mounts. I'll see if I can find it.

Stuka thats the same frame as my 72, the pics I posted were off a later model. I think the change over was around the same time as the spring mount change, mid 75??? As with the springs I think there are differences during the same production year.

Gentlemen,
I believe TEX is wondering about the differences on the J trucks. I know there is a difference in the Wag/Cheros between early and late; but the truck frames (especially the front) stayed pretty much the same thru the production run.
