I'm stuck replacing the power window track on my 86 GWAG. I can't figure out how to remove the broken part of the old track. Specifically - how to you get the end of the track with the head past the window motor? I cant slide the end up over the top of the track (not enough room) and I can't get the head through the other way since the head makes contact with the window motor itself. Any thoughts?

You have to take the moter/track assembly off. You can leave it in the door , just take off the torx screws that hold it and move the assembly to a place you can get to the end to slide the old nylon track off and the new one on. Before putting the new one on clean off the metal rail that it slides on and regrease it. Then reattach the assembly and screw the new track to the window. Check the tech section, I think there is a good write up there.

I've read both write-ups and I still can't seem to figure out exactly how to free up the motor/track assembly enough to allow me to get at the section where the track & the motor meet. I'll keep working!

Mission accomplished. The window motor was stubborn in separating from the mounting bracket. Once they separated, it was a piece of cake. Window goes up & down nicely now.
Thanks again to this wonderful forum!
