just purchest a ramsy pto drive for my modle 20 off of e-bay,what i want to do is set it up in the rear of my cherokke project and use a milemarker in the front,i also just bought a braden tow truck wench this weekend with the chain and linkage that funs through the floor to hook up to the driveshaft, but i still need a driveshaft, what is a good source for a driveshaft, who could build me one or can i modify one from something else?

These are easy to make. I would go to a farmers supply or an industrial supply store, they have the stock and yolks ect to do this job. ;)

i made mine from cold rolled 3/4" shaft i got from the local recycling yard. i got all the yokes, carrier bearings, etc. from farmand fleet and tractor supply. if i were to do it again,id prolly maake the shaft of at least 1",and i should have used bigger chain than i did.since yours came with chain, youre allready a step ahead of me when i got mine smile.gif
since my shaft is so long(huh huh huh huh ;) ) and only 3/4" i had to support it with 3 carrier bearings.

you think the ladies would be impressed with length of my shaft, but for some reason i am still single tongue.gif maybe cause i spend too much time working my my jeep.hmmmm.
anyway, ive got a ramsey pto that bolts onto the rear of my spicer 18,and is driven by engaging the input gear on the trannys tailshaft.it has front and rear outputs. my winch is a bit of an unknown, but i saw one that looks alot like it in a northern hydraulics catalog.
the winch is located on what looks very much like a 5th wheel plate smile.gif on the highest ppoint of the frame above the rear wheels. this puts it almost in the center of the rear cargo area. we built a fairlead on the rear bumper that also ties into my rollcage.
the shaft has a carrier bearing about in the center(where there conviently happened to be a frame crossmember),then oe right in front of the drive sprocket, and one right behind,at the very end of the shaft. had to add the outer cause the end of the shaft would actually bend on extreme loads, causing the sprocket to be running a enuff of an angle to let the chain pop off. this is why id go with a bigger shaft(huh huh huh huh) i needed the t bearings at the end to make sure that the sprocket stayed in place, and stayed perfectly parallel.
my pto output is pretty high up. since your d20 pto is a pan style, your shaft maybe mre complicated, since your pto output is lower. youll prolly need a u joint in the center as well to get the shaft up out of harms way. my shaft is able to keep the sprockets straight, without any u joints and also is still fairly high up in the chassis.
i was crafty and made a linkage to atach the pto lever to my stock 229 high/low rnage lever  on the floor is disengaged, pulling the lever up engages the pto.
simply connected the shaft to the wich input with chain.as i mentioned,i shoulda used bigger chain than i did.the iput of the winch faces the rear of the rig.i run it in forward gears(wich effectively gives me a 4 speed winch :D ),wich causes the drum to spool from the bottom when winding.
if youre ever up in this area, let me know, you can stop by and check it out. better yet, meet us at haspin in a couple of weeks and you can prolly see it in action.i am very, very, very hapy with it.
