try advance adaptors. i saw that they have a list of parts to adapt the np205 depending on the spline count. heres a link

You can use the factory Chevy adapter, as long as you change the output shaft, as they used the same bolt-pattern for the tailshaft housing. You just have to figure in the tilt of the AMC case, which might require fiddling with the tranny-mount.

The AMC TH400 is tilted around 4 degrees to the passenger side. I added a suspension shim under the tranny mount to get my D300 to fit.

why not just use a clocking ring?

because that will only clock the t-case. The mounting pad on the tailhousing will still be un even.
