Does anyone have a picture of the front of a 360/401 with the alternator bracketry visible? It's a 76 and its been apart for a long time... I even took a few pics of it assembled (not my first rodeo), but I think they've been erased. I have the long, curved, skinny bracket and kind of a v shaped one. I kept the long bolts with the spacers through the proper holes but can't remember how it all goes. I looked through every page of the stupid Chiltons manual that came with it, but couldn't find a pic that wasn't blocked by the A/C compressor.
I've got a previously scanned pic (from parts manual) of a 360 alt with brackets, spacers, bolts scanned. Don't know if it's like yours though. Long adjuster bracket, boomerang looking mount etc. PM me or email me you email addy and I'll send it to you.

hope this helps out
Ronson, the scan I have is completely different than the one posted above. Not even remotely similar.
edit: the one I've got is for a 76 and later 360 with AC. The mount w/o AC is different yet from the one above.

I like that mount!!! Looks way sturdier than the stock crap.

The first pic in the above set shows an empty bolt hole behind the alt. That is the hole the top alt bolt and the long spacer goes into. the rest of them are through the timing cover and water pump. I can get clearer pics if still needed.

the slotted adlustment bracket will go in the same place as the above diagram, lower bolt going through the oil pump, and will be on the bottom of the alt. when installed.
the other, upper bracket should be easy to figure out, just look, and position it till it lines up and looks right.maybre on the 2 bigger bolts going through the waterpump on the pass. side.
all mine have ac.

you can sorta see where the lower bracket bolts up. i'm almost certain the other bracket you have will go on the 2 larger bolts that are right above and below the heater output hose. the shorter spacer will go above the heater hose, longer one below.

Thanks Ristow! I went to resize those pics and somehow posted them... I think I have been working on foreign junk too long! Many of them have an upper bracket that looks alot like that lower one. Now that I'm not looking at it upside down it should be much easier

Ha Ha! That was easy with all this help!http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa249/tommyd1963/0819070833.jpgIt's kind of a bummer that some parts are bead blasted and like new and others look like chit. I used to work out of a several million dollar shop, now I work in my alley!http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa249/tommyd1963/0819070834a.jpgAt least it's finally coming along! Maybe when its up and running I can get back into the details...http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa249/tommyd1963/0819070834.jpg

Is it something I'm doing that is making this post so wide? Sometimes it's like this and sometimes it's not...

It's all good! I might swap to that style you have when I try to figure out the A/C thing someday. I've been following your build and it looks pretty sweet. I want to eventually do a similar build on a M-715 someday. I have seen several van 14bolts out here but front D60s are going for $1200-$1400 in this area. With all this wide open BLM land out here 4x4s are pretty popular!
