the bar the the rear electric window sits in has finally rusted out. Is there a way to remove it and replace it with one from the junk yard? everything else in it is good. just the one the window rests on is gone

That's a common problem. You can replace it by removing that access cover plate on the center of the gate. Getting a good channel may be tough - maybe check BJ's off road to see if they carry a new replacement.

just remember to try not to lose the little clips that hold the regulator arm pins to the channel... or at least come up with something creative to use in their place if they're shot.

I also had the following problem when replacing my tailgate glass channel. One of the (electric) window regulator arms was bent a little and this constantly put pressure on the channel. One year (approx) after putting the "new" one in, the channel is once again bent AND warped/twisted.

I don't have the tailgate glass sealed in the channel because it would pull the glass down at a slight angle and get in a bind instead of just letting gravity do it's thing (as it does now).

Hmmm... I really have no idea if that helps. Just to let you know to make sure your regulator arms aren't bent or you'll have the same (inevitable) trouble that I did.

BTW... BJ does have them for $55.

window channel bar more than likly WON'T go thru cover of tailgate as channel is as wide as the window. will have to get clips off of channel and arms first, push the window down, open tailgate and pull window out, channel will come with glass unless it is rusted out badly, may get hung up on edge of gate as pulling out too. even if you go thru BJ's or dealer or whomever, you'll wait a while til it gets to you. Order rubber strips that seal(?) the window to the top of the gate, they don't actually seal but keep out most weather, water gets thru anyway and rusts out the channel.
This type window caused the major 3 to eliminate this style of rear window, too much corrosion inside gate and rusted out the bottom of every full size bronco or anything like it, and all the components inside.
