Wanted you guys see a picture I got from a member over at the Airstream forum. He put 32K miles on both the Jeep and trailer. Thought you may enjoy a little nostalgia.

Yup! Nothing like putting the most aerodynamic trailer behind one of the least aerodynamic vehicles!!

Serious, I in general hate the whole RV thing, including tow behinds, but that picture makes me want to go out and buy an Airstream!

I prefer our '64 Shasta - complete with pop-out side table and wings. Top Class!

I like the airstreams.. but well, you can buy a house for the price of one now adays.
This is my 19' hybrid behind the Waggy. Tows great, at 65 mph or less.

I agree -- but the Airstream is my home and the Jeep my daily driver, so I don't really consider that a part of the "RV thing". I look forward to the day when I have the trailer permanently parked on my own land here:

This is the project I am currently working on for towing behind my waggy.
22' long and 3400 lbs empty - just about the right size. Currently I am putting in some new floors, painting the frame, new toilet and a general rehab.

Here's a picture of our '70 Shasta 16ft. LoFlyte being pulled by the Grand Wagoneer. We've gutted and remodeled the camper. It's nice, but we'll probably go for something larger in the next couple years.

Very nice -- please keep us posted on how the work goes! Mine's a '71 twenty-seven footer, with sit-down tub, full-size beer box, range & wall oven. Moreover; it's a lot more luxury than I'm comfortable with, having spent most of my life in a tent. I'm in the process od stripping the interior and putting back just what I want. Part of that will be 12 golf cart batteries and about 4-500 watts of solar cells (lots of room on the roof once you ditch the A/C).
I spent 15 years in the manufactured housing industry, and another 25 building (now drawing) million-dollar second homes. I think that these little tin cans represent the finest iteration of American housing. Wouldn't trade mine for a mansion in Aspen!

Serious J,
pay close attention to the caulking around the bottom rub rail. Mine was not caulked from the factory. Water would run down behind it and directly into the face of the plywood flooring thus rotting it away. I have the rear of the trailer finished. One other step I did was to put a drip edge one the plywood face so if the caulking fails the water should hit the drip edge and bypass the plywood.
I currently have all the front belly pan and inside gutted. I have the frame painted and new plywood installed. My wonderful aunt likes my project and ambition so she offered to make new curtains for me.

I know I've posted this photo here before, but It's still one of my favorites.
It's my Waggy with a good friend's '65 Caravelle. Since this photo was taken the trailer has received a full professional polish and looks SPECTACULAR. He also has a '65 Safari that is very similar to the one in the first photo in this thread.
I'm gonna get me one of these someday...

They look so cool, they make me want to tow one around just for the look of it.
