Rancho RS9000X with 4" lift. I have the on board in cab adjustment. I like the shocks, the adjustment is nice but not worth the money. Once I found a setting I liked, I pretty much leave it there.

Problem with these shocks is they will limit your travel. Better to get some longer shocks..

What about a standard no lift Cherokee thats used to tow a 16' trailer once in awhile.

I love my Rancho RS5000s, but they make my Jeep ride like a buck-board wagon. But hey, i like stiffer shocks, and Rancho5000's are pretty stiff. Good offroad shocks, and halfway decent for highway.

If your truck is used for towing and pretty much on-road driving, look into an adjustable air-shock setup. (not airbags)

im running $12.99 autozone "red ryders" on all 4 corners :D 6 of them total-2 at each rear wheel. i like them fine, its got a nice ride off road, not too stiff, yet stiff enuff i can drive real fast across the uneven fields at haspin without it slamming the bumpstops constantly. i ran rancho 5000s on my eagle, and i honestly cant feel enuff of a difference to warrant $30+ per shock.

i had to dig thru the book, tho, and find longer ones with the right ends that would work for me.

I use Trailmaster Invader SSV's for the rear and Rancho RS5000's for the front....it has a nice ride. Well, LOTS better than it did when i had no shocks ;)

i need to replace my rusty's socks. if anybody buys a rusty's lift dont get the shocks. the shocks suck. at 35+ mph bump make my truck bounce bad and I hate it.

I need some rancho 5000's, as they arent super expensive, and provide the stiff ride that I like.

i also run the RS5012's I haven't offroaded with them yet but they serve their purpose

RS5000's all the way around, lots of folks call them stiff, i just call them firm, pretty happy so far as they keep the front level and help a lot with the body roll on these big machines.

I am using the shocks that came with the Rusty's kit(Gabriels?) They were a 110% improvemnet over what was on the Jeep before. On and off the road they preformed decently.

Gwamp: you dont get the bad bouncing up front when you hit a woop in the road at higher speeds? Mine does it so bad to where my head lights bounce up and down...

I have the Car Quest shocks that they call Brusier. They been on my 88 GW for about 6 months and seem to work real well.

I have Bilsteins and use them on the street only. The body roll is minimal, but the shocks have a love affair with highway tar strips. I feel each and every one of them.

I have Bilsteins on the Cherokee and Disco and love them.

FWIW, for a 4" lift there are nice 5100-series Bilsteins - in fact, two, one being shorter (with part number ending on -0253, 14" compressed length, 8.5" travel), and one-longer ( -0248, 15.5" compressed length, 10" travel).

I've just taken the Chero for a trail ride with these rear shocks (-0253), they seem to offer a lot more flex than the stock-length -0056s.

oh yeah, with the sway bar off, 35s aired down to 20psi, and Bilsteins, the ride off road was awesomely smooth. A tire drops in a foot-deep ditch, and you barely notice it.

I am working on my 1976 J-10. I was told that coil-springs work better that then the leaf springs. So I was planning on changing over to coil-springs. I have a '60 C-10 that has coil-springs and really nice set traction bars (same type used in some stock cars). It would be a little bit more work to put on, but I heard its worth it.

Holley68,

i have two coilers and two leafers. i'm yet to ride a coil-sprung something that rides better than a properly sprung full size jeep.

My father has a 1976 J-10 that has coil-springs and leaf-springs. Never saw this before. Does anybody else have this set-up.

There is a speed bump that is pretty nasty by my place that I will hit at speed and it takes it fine along woth all the other potholes and crap on the roads around here.

I run Gabriel Hi-Jacker air shocks- rear; Monroe gas shocks- front. Rides, handles nice and got rid of the sagging rearend (on the Jeep) ;) .

I use the RS5000s on my Wag and had them on my old F250 and Bronco and loved them but find them too stiff for lighter rigs like CJS, etc... I would measure your mounts and look thru the application guides of whatever shock you use to get the best working length for your rig. I have found that whats recommended isn't always best and can hinder travel if the shock is wrong.

I installed the then brand-new to the market Rancho RSX(relatively high pressure gas) shocks in lieu of Rancho 9000's at the same time I installed my SkyJacker "Softride" 4" lift.
I had wanted to try the Edelbrocks but Edelbrock had no part # for the Wag at that time.
Don't know if it's the shocks or the springs, but "soft" doesn't exactly describe how my rig rides. It's not quite brutal, and the big bumps and offroading is nice, but potholes, expansion joints, rough road surfaces-let's just say you feel EVERYTHING that you drive over. I think I could feel a pea in the road as I drove over it. The factory engineers have a term NVH-noise-vibration-harshness. They try and reduce this in a new car. I increased mine greatly with the suspension I swapped in.
If I can fight my laziness tomorrow,I might even pull the shocks off and take a drive to see how much change I get. I think it's the shocks but I'm still thinking about going spring over with stock Waggy springs-I miss my cushy stock Wag ride!
Either way,it's Rancho 9000x's for me next time 100%.
If you don't like the ride-turn the dial until you do!

I am using ProComps on my J-10 with a Skyjacker 4" lift. They seem to do fine. This truck is used for plowing and hauling at the moment.

I have RS9000's on my Cj. Long travel in the front. I do like the adjustability.
