Fan shroud mounting question

Is the fan shround mounted with the same bolts that hold the radiator to the radiator frame?

Mine was, and when I replaced the radiator and reinstalled the fan shroud this weekend, I tightened the bolts too much and broke the mounting holes on the fan shroud.

Before I buy a new shroud, I'd like to know if there is a better way to rig it.

It seems ridiculous (1) to have to unbolt the radiator just to remove/replace the fan shroud (although I suppose that you can do it one side at a time) and (2) to have a piece of plastic supporting between the bolt head and the radiator frame supporting the weight of the radiator.

all mine have been that way.dont have one right now cause it broke as well

Previous owner did that to mine and then used some way oversized washers to keep the shroud in place. Never had a problem with it.

HHmmm mine was bolted to the engine side of the radiator.Didn't have to unbolt the radiator to take the shroud off.

Mine is the same way; bolts holding on shroud are also same bolts holding on radiator flange.

I just do the one-side at a time trick.
