Chance is going on a mission to the junkyard to acquire me the parts to do a rhino conversion to my 78......
can someone verify for me what parts are required to do this upgrade?
Thanks!
PS: no need to include info regarding the 'extra' lights...I am only concerned at this time about which parts need to come off the donor FSJ

I used the grille and headlight buckets. The Jeep I got the parts from had inserts where the smaller holes in the front are. I'm tracking down Suzuki motorcycle headlight assemblies that WILL work in the smaller holes. I've been to the Suzuki dealer and he told me where to get the best deal. I'll post pix and part numbers when I get them.

No, I still use the inside the cab release. Although I wouldn't mind having the outside one. It's just a different cross-bar with the handle welded pointing downard instead of it facing upward with the cable strung through it.
You'll need the following items :
* Rhino Grille Center piece
* Two outside round sections
* Headlights, buckets, retainer/adjusters, beauty rings, and the bulbs obviously. These are the EXACT same as CJ light assemblies.
You'll need some fine thread screws with BIG heads or big washers to accomodate the large holes in the valance.

snake....I don't have an inside the cab release, mine sticks out forward between the good and the grill...why do I need new buckets and bulbs?.....I already have the ones in the Cherokee.....
and remember....I am not tackling the inside lights yet

Aren't the 70's style round lights smaller than the CJ's lights? If that isn't the case, then all you'll need is the beauty rings.
Guess you'll need that cross bar after all :/

I did the conversion on a 78 and you will need the grille and a set of trim rings from the head lites. To make life easier grab the early style headlite buckets as they will wire right in with no problem if you grab the connector block the is right by the drivers side of the rad on the inside of the engine compartment. With these buckets the slot for the tab on the trim ring is always there, where it sometimes is not on the later buckets. Also grab the filler plates for now as they will fill the holes until you get other lighting. For your hood latch, you will have to cut a hole in the rad support but this is easy to do with a jig saw just follow the lines where the indent is. You can then either bend the tab on your hood latch around for access or grab the one of the donor rig. The core (rad) support does not follow the original conture of the grille so a spacer is needed at the top grille tab, a 13/16th's lug nut (Ford or 5 bolt Jeep)is the perfect size. You will have to remove the bar across the hood scoop opening so you will want either to fill the holes or use either a Rhino hood or a 79 up hood. The 79 up hoods have a minor styling change and that is that the tooling wore out and the corners where the grille opening is are no longer squared off but this is only noticeable to some one that knows, (like me). There will be extra holes in the front panel that you will want to ignore, fill or you can replace the panel. Have fun!
