This has been discussed here before so I know it's possible and not that difficult but I don't know the details on what's involved in doing it.

Just for the record, any drive line swap is possible if you have the money and or the fabrication skills to pull it off.

The 4.0 will fit the 258 just fine, except that in an FSJ the EFI intake manifold will not clear the stock brake vacuum booster. Zorm did this swap and had to go with a manual master cylinder; I can only imagine how hard he has to stomp the brake pedal to get an FSJ stopped!

gsmikie told me that a 65-66 Chevelle vacuum booster will fit, though I haven't seen for myself. Another option might be a hydroboost setup.

I'm in the midst of tinkering with a turbocharged 258. If I go another step in this engine swapping, I want to build a 4.6 stroker motor, so I may have to deal with that brake booster problem yet.

I did the swap with a '93 wrangler 4.0L into my '82 Wag. I used the manual master cylinder

Read my webpage about the swap here, it should answer a lot of your questions. (http://www.paradise.raleigh.nc.us/mark/jeep/4.0swap.html)

email me if you have any specific questions i'll be glad to help
