I put it on eBay. It went for $@(%&)@ $515. I'm not happy. The winning bidder has a feedback rating of 0, I'm his first auction. I'm gonna go have a beer and cry.

Why didn't you have a "reserve" on it? Maybe if it's his first auction he'll back out on you and you can do it all over again?

I didn't have a reserve on it because I don't have time to mess around. I didn't put it on eBay to make a bunch of money. I put it on eBay because I'm moving and can't keep it. I get 1 month of leave back home with Herc in 2 weeks and she needs a radiator, front brakes, and tires. The J4000 needs to be out of the garage before I leave Utah in 6 weeks because the next time I'm there my wife will already have outprocessed base housing, had all our stuff shipped out, be in a hotel with the kids, and we're leaving in Herc so she needs to be done and ready to go. Such is life I guess.

Nothing like being up against the wall having to sell something fast.:(
Sorry to hear, JR
Since your goal was to unload it you may be ok. No reason a Zero feedback noob won't pay anymore than anyone else. If in reallity it was to make a buck...well welcome to ebay.
Key here I think is where is zero noob in relation to the truck...if unloading time is important?
I buy stuff occasionally on ebay when I "absolutely have too" but don't sell zip there. Ebay is a combo punji pit/snake pit with hassles for a bonus.
Next time make a note in the ad that bidders with less than x feedback contact you before bidding and put in the ad deposit requirements and specify a pick up date.
Good luck, it'll prolly work out fine.

I'm a pretty experienced eBayer. I needed the truck gone and eBay is the way to get stuff gone. Not really looking for suggestions on how I could have done it differently, I know how I set up the auction and why I did it the way I did. I'm still allowed to be disappointed that it didn't sell for more. Not only that, but 0 feedback guy sniped the previous high bidder who had a feedback score of 100 by $10 with 3 minutes to go in the auction. That means he was online when it ended so I sent him a message congratulating him on stealing my J4000 and asking him to let me know what his plan was for paying for/picking up the truck. 2 hours later...nothing back from 0 feedback guy. I have a bad feeling about 0 feedback guy. I agree with you though about the fact the key is where is 0 feedback guy in relation to the truck. Also agree that it'll probably work out in the end. I guess I'm just in a bad mood about the whole thing.

That is why the "500$ deposit" within 24 hours is so important.. because then you can relist it quick if you get dikced around by the buyer.

Why would I ask for a $500 deposit within 24 hours on a no reserve auction that started at $200? Seriously...I know how to set up an auction and why I did it the way I did. Had I required a deposit within 24 hours of auction close I might have pushed away people who don't use PayPal. I needed the truck sold the first time. Don't have time for relists. I'm just bummed that my truck is sold. Guess I shouldn't have posted.

With any luck they buyer will back out.
My brother's tried to sell the Ford Ranger I gave him on eBay twice. Both times the 0 feedback person flaked out.

i had a guy with a 100% score of 141 back out of the auction on my '03 moto-guzzi. fine with me as it didn't go as high as i had wanted, but i fully intended to honor his winning bid.no deposit,no word from him in 2 weeks.i filed an unpaid item on him,so i don't have to pay for the auction.
anyhow, the zero feedback wouldn't bother me.

Yeah I apologize Corey for coming off as telling you what to do. I meant it as suggestions only especially the "noob email me before bidding" part. But there is no real way to CYA on ebay as buyer or seller. You seem way more experienced swimming with ebay sharks than I am or ever intend to be. I'll humbly hang my head, bow out, and wish you the best.
Good luck in the ROK Corey...an doan forget to bring your woolin's ;)

Yeah, I guess I shut the door pretty hard on you there. Sorry. Like I said, I'm just cranky that my truck is gone. I'll try to watch that.
As for the ROK...been here for 6 months next wednesday. Going on mid-tour 2 wednesdays from now. It's hotter than heck here now. Last week at work it was 83* and 100% humidity at 3am. I can't wait 'till I need my woolins again, that means I'm leaving soon!
No prob Corey I understand. Hey guy 3 more months and you're sorta-semi-almost-leaning down hill-short eh? . Uncle Sugars travel club directors do have a sense of humor don't they. ;)
Here's hoping the ebay/truck thing works and your next duty station has trees, rain, no sand, no loud noises blah blah....you know the scenario of what's good. ;)
Thanks for doing what you do so's I can sit here at home and do what I do. Tis appreciated.

This is tour #2 for me here. Tour #1 was a blast, lemme tell you. Asked Nikki to marry me, went to basic, then to tech school. Flew home during tech school to marry her and meet the kid that was born during basic. Finished school, came home for a few weeks, then off to Korea. First mid-tour was all but canceled by Sep 11. By the time I could get a flight home for leave I was only allowed 2 weeks. When all was said and done and I was back home with her for good it had been 22 months since I left for basic and I only had 6 weeks out of it with my son. This tour has been a breeze compared to that one. Anyhow, this thread didn't have much of a topic to begin with...and I just wandered away from it even more.
If ya look REAL close Corey Uncle Sugar's travel plans/orders are really written in pencil...subject to change yesterday. ;)
Sounds like though in the grand (but confusing) scheme of the mil world....so far so good eh? :)
Good luck and come back soon.

I checked 0 feedback guy's zip code. He's in Van Ormy, TX. That's 21 hours from my truck. I still haven't heard from him. Not impressed.
I saw that truck on ebay and even considered putting in a bid. But Texas is quite a ways away. That and I'm just moving into my new house. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing if we can work out a deal if the 0 feedback guy falls through. Keep me in mind if the deal falls apart.
