When Natalie and I got married, we decided we needed a truck of some sort for moving the dogs around, and hauling home supplies from Home Depot. After going through all of our options, we decided on a Grand Wagoneer. The truck I bought was a disaster. Nearly everything that could go wrong on it did. I sold it a couple years later just to be rid of it.

Fast forward to today. She currently drives a PT Cruiser, a car we are both seriously disappointed in. Lousy gas mileage, no room, and electrical gremlins are already starting, and it only has 40k miles on it . Since our plans include upsizing the family, we decided to move on and replace the Cruiser.

After the non stop headaches with the first Waggy, and the many hours spent on the engine swap in the Cherokee, I'm amazed I talked her into another Waggy. My intention is to do the same engine swap in the Waggy. She isn't one do deal with a cranky carb in the winter, especially with kids in the back.

Anyway, here it is:

yup, the wimmin folk wanna turn the key and throw the shift into D :D

I spent a month of spare time swapping my good used re-manned 360 into my new 88. Then the next 6 months or so, getting it to pass emissions. :banghead: Ive got it to the point where Marina can start it and drive itat will. For a cold start, it takes a few pumps of the gas and often stalls when you shift it into gear. It will re-start immediately and once warm starts instantly.
The whole thing with the later Wags is that the smog stuff has to work. Couple that to a decent 2150 and distributor, and the stock setup is fine

Good looking GW! I'd say 89 or 90.

But you can't call it a collection till you have a J-truck...;)

Its an '88. Its got a 4" lift, which I will probably take off of it. Child hauling station wagon it this one's lot in life. Its has a couple electrical gremlins, nothing that I am worried about.

Andy, no doubt I could get this one to run right, but most of the emissions stuff is already gone. And I've been down that road before, and really don't want to go there again  Since I just got done the swap in my Cherokee, everything is fresh in my head, and all of the trial and error is done.

Lindel, I would not mind have a stepside Honcho someday...:hide:

Very nice. Put a TBI or Edelbrock's MPFI kit on it and the Mrs. will be quite happy (and so will you!).

James, you called that one right. It has headers and a true dual exhaust. Those too will be coming out and going up for sale. Other than the axles, the entire drivetrain will be pulled and replaced with something just a bit newer
