just wondering what everyone else is running and thier own opinions. figured this is something that might help out up coming FSJ builders, and other's that might be looking into a new set of tires. and if your just looking then go ahead and vote to let use know what your running.

Dang, lot of mall terrains here. I'm running boggers on the j10 right now but think the TSL SX is the best all around tire (for wheelin).
33/10.50/15 tsl sx on the willys.
275/60/17 Goodyear eagles on the DD.
edit:you asked for a picture...

I run 33" TSLs on my J2000 and 33" procomp xterrains (they were free) on my J10 but those will be swapped to 39"-42" Bias Iroks when I put my 60s under the truck. I think Super Swampers are the only way to go for a trail tire.

I got mud terrains on the chero, but that is because those were the tires it came with.
When it goes under the knife and gets 1 tons, etc. it will be getting some 38" to 40" TSLs or Irocs. Probably the TSL SX though, cause they will last a lot longer then Irocs.
Depends on what I can find a good deal on though ;)

Running 33 in. BFG MT's on Tequilla. I like em. Not terribly noisy on the highway, and they do wear well.

Generic all-terrain tires for now, stock 235/75/15 sized. Will be replaced by 265/75/16 Goodyear Wranglers after lift/gearing. No need for a hard-core mud tire with the terrain this will be seeing.

37" Parnelli Jones Dirt Grip
They last on the street waaaay better than I expected...even with a Detroit back there (got one up front, too!) chewing on them at every corner.
They do okay in the mud, but could use a little more void for self-clearance.
Not impressed so much with the dry, loose dirt performance. But I haven't used them much in that, so we'll see about that later.
Next tires are 18.5/44 TSLs, though. They oughtta do a bit better in the mud and loose stuff ;)

285/70/17 BFG All Terrains on my dd, they've lasted 66,000 miles so far, and they work great offroad (for an all terain)
42" TSL's on the Wag. They're chewed up something aweful, but they still grab the rocks at 3-6 psi. I have sidewall gashes from he11, but they don't leak.

All terrain 33 10.50 15 BFG
I wish more tire manufacturers made this size tire.
Mud type tires are good if you plan on running through the mud a good bit of your time. Plenty loud driving the hard top.
Although I beleive tires are no replacement for good posi or LS differential setups. I will take the gears over tires everytime.
Also differing terrains are the issue, that's why there are so many selections to meet your specific driving terrain needs.

42X14R16.5 Iroks on the buggy
37x12.5R17 krawlers and 36x13.5R17 iroks on my TJ
35x12R15 copper STT's on my comanche
Krawlers are bye far the best but are most definatly the hardest on drive train. Iroks are great light and grip well and STT's are a street tire, when I had them on my Tj I ripped one every time I wheeled them.

39.5 TSL Super Swamper Front
39.5 TSL Bogger Rear
I voted TSL since boggers have a Three Stage Lug which makes them a tsl variant also but if the poll would let me vote for both I would have.

I can't be the only one running two different tires, maybe somebody even runs different tires at different times for different reasons instead od at the same time like me and many of us have more than one rig. My 82 k10 has BFG AT's and my 1997 fj80 has some stock street tire. So I guess I run them all.

Why run radials in the front with a tire like a bogger?

I run Goodyear Wrangler MT/R's. I am pretty well pleased with them.
Traction on rock seems plenty adequate (if not stellar). They've taken me up all the trails I wanted to go without much tirespin, really. They've lasted something like 15-20k miles (lost track) and still have probably 30-40% tread left. On-road they are relatively quiet, easily balanced. They work very well in deep snow--I drove around in the Denver Blizzards this year giving rides to people and had to plow through some very deep stuff and while I did get stuck, I had no problems as long as the axles weren't buried. Ice, well, they do about as good as could be expected I suppose. They also seem to work pretty well in shallow snow, too (much to my surprise) and I often drove the Wagoneer instead of the Subaru in snows. Rain performance... not bad. They will hydroplane at hwy speeds with enough water, but I would expect similar performance from other MTs. On-road handling seems fine altho I have no other 33" to compare to. The sidewalls seem tough. I've beat on them fairly well, not had any problems. Minor chunking here and there, nothing bad. Part of that is from fender contact early on.
http://tc.wagoneer.net/sblog/images/whee.jpg
For me the main selling points on the MT/Rs is the low noise, slow tire wear, and all around good performance on and off road. They are a good compromise for an agreesive tire.
I notice a lot of people running these over the last few years but I think other tires are getting more popular I dunno. I don't know if they are necessarily worth the $$ as they are quite expensive. Being funds challenged lately I may be forced into another brand. BFG AT's always treated me well (ran 31" on two vehicles) in terms of snow, rain, trail. They were always adequately tough, too.

Why run radials in the front with a tire like a bogger?
got a good deal on them. still had 7/16" of the tread on the radials and 3/8" on the boggers when i picked them up. guy just wanted to get rid of them and the wheels for $250. couldn't say no to that. the bogger tread was a little soft, which i think has helped out on the trails a lot more than a new set would have. i've had great success with them too.

35x12.50 Baja Claws, only because I got a deal that couldn't be passed up (less than $100 each for 85% tread). I like 'em, but my next set will be one of these 3: Iroks, TSL-SX, or PitBull Rockers.

My honcho is a dd, so I run 31" a/t tires. the tires are called sidewinderA/T, and I got a killer deal on them. I got 6 used ones, each with 75% tread or more left for 120$. Thats 4, a spare, and a spare for my brothers lifted xj. They have a really agressive looking tread pattern for an at, although my truck isn't yet ready for offroad. So far, I really like em and I love the stance 31's give my old truck.

285x70/17 (33's) Cooper STT's on my wifes DD burb. They are an amazing tire. I previously ran BFG TA KO's on all my DD's, but I will be sticking with these things until something better comes along. My father-in-law owns a tire shop, and he said this is the best tire he has seen in 10 years...
