:banghead: My first question is how to tell what motor my 79' wagon has in it. the guy I bought it from said it was a 327. but the distributer is at an angle. my uncle said that it was probably a 360. can you give me the specks on what they had in 79( front end ,rear end, tranny etc). Now for the other Q. The body is pretty good on the out side, but the passenger side floor pan has holes were you can see the ground. and the window seals on the doors and the back window are gone so the rain has went down into the bottom and rusted the doors out. its pretty much just a toy so should i just leave the body on and roll cage it, or take the body off and make like a buggy or rock crawler out of it? any suggestion would be nice. thanks.

If it's just a toy save your money and leave the body like it is. You'd spend more making a buggy out of it than you would just caging it I would think. Spend that $$$ on lockers or something cool like that. Welcome to the crowd, and remember, we like pics so cough 'em up.

...but the passenger side floor pan has holes were you can see the ground...

That was probably AMC's special "OffRoad" package, with drainholes preinstalled. That raises the value quite a bit. For some reason people around here like patching them up though...

Just kidding with you. That happens a lot around here (the "serious" discussions are in off topic ;)). Welcome to the madness!

360 should be cast into the block under the motor mount. Look from underneath. The floor vents and door weatherstripping let in most of the water. The guy you bought it from never changed his own oil. If it is the 360, it is an AMC 360.

1979 Wagoneer specs...2bbl 360cid AMC, TH400, BW1339 Quadra-Trac, front and rear Dana 44's. Most likely 3.54 gearing.

Oh, and...
