Just got a new drive shaft - the kind with the slip built in to it.

There was no boot. My last boot got ripped off the first time on the trail.

Any thoughts on going through the effort to putone on. No invest ment. just going to use an old shock boot, but was worried about throughing the driveshaft out of balance by putting it on.

Thanks

I wouldn't even worry about it. I have two jeeps and none of my four driveshafts have boots on them. I don't honestly think I've ever seen a boot on a driveshaft that wasn't in a front wheel drive car. If you do use a shock boot, I wouldn't think it would throw it out of balance.

I've never had a boot on any of the custom or stock drive lines I've had..I've always kept them greased and off the rocks (or at least tried) and they've been great. I suppose you could try a shock boot, it wouldnt take much time to see how the balance would be effected..

Thanks guys

That's what I thought, but the stock shafts had boots and it got me thinking I was missing something.
