What can cuase my amp light to glow at idle? Could it be a bad alt? I have the guage also and it is running at about 10 at idle. Could low amperage cause the jeep to sputter and "lunge" at low RPM's? Or is this a dist. problem? Thanks gents.

If the gauge is reading 10A+ at idle I'd guess a bad ground on the idiot light if it's glowing?
No, sufficient battery/alt voltage won't cause a stumble at low rpm's. I'd suspect ign/plug wires/dist etc or carb/vac probs.

Thanks ,joe, I am suspecting the dist is most of my problems. The AMP light glows very faintly and as soon as I hit the gas it goes away. Thanks.
i dunno. my 70 wag 's idiot light has been glowing since the day I bought it (when I turn the lights on that is). I'd always assumed that it has alternator related just because it only happened when there was a strain on the electrical system. but i dunno crap about it...so....any fixes you come up with would be great!
any HEI off a Buick would fit right??

Yeah, most will glow somewhat especially noticable at night and idling but PC's ammeter is showing 10A+ at idle so the light shouldn't really be glowing then.

Low voltage will cause the engine to run bad at adle. Fully charge your battery and then run it and see if it idles better or hook up another battery like if you were getting a jump start..
I just went through that with the RX7, the electric ignition needs good voltage to run good.

Sorry about the bad info I gave you above PC but what Rudy says is true for electronic ignitions. I just assumed(yeah, I know) your 67 was still a conventional points ignition :(

If you are running a GM alt it could be caused by a bad diode trio inside the alt itself. If it is a motorcraft or Motorola alt there is prolly a bad output diode in the alt. Low voltage will cause a problem with either points or electronic ign and will cause a surge or even a miss esp at higher rpms.
If your idle speed is set real low (500 to 650) the light flickering would be normal as the output of the alt would not be enough to overcome battery voltage and shut off the light.
