Man, I hate it when I am so close but so far away... :banghead:
I need to come up with an adapter that mates my 1" OD FSJ fuel filler to a Scout 19 gallon poly tank (2" OD). The filler and tank inlet are lined up perfectly and there is room for an adapter and hoses but I am coming up empty on the adapter. I have surfed the web; checked out the marine supply places; and tried to get help from the local plumbing supply places (brass fittings?).
Anybody got any good ideas on how to make this work?

Use an exhaust-pipe adapter.

Have not checked Northern, but will.
I have considered an exhaust pipe reducer but did not know if they came as small as 1". I will check it out.
Thanks, guys.

You can get a 2" to 1" reducer in copper at Home Depot or Lowes.

You sure about that? Home Depot was one of the places I looked.

You might have to check into motorcycle parts for one that size, or go to an exhaust-shop and see what they have around.
I don't know how the copper would take to exposure to gasoline?

or go to an exhaust-shop and see what they have aroundThat might be the way to go. Have an exhaust shop take a piece of 1" stainless or aluminized pipe and flare one end to 2". Use a short piece of 2" fuel hose to connect to fitting on the tank and hook up 1" hose from filler.

it's not gas that copper has a problem with, but time and exposure to the elements and heat will cause it to get brittle. If it doesn't move/vibrate a lot then this isn't much of an issue.
I've used it for gas line before and it worked pretty good.

I am sure of that, got one in my Cherokee now. The 42 gallon tank I put in also had a 2" inlet. I used the copper reducer to mate it up with the 1" hose.
