Hi,

I was wondering if anyone who has done this has some input. I have removed all the linkages and tried to pull the seal from above (I have a 360/727/229 in my 91 wrangler and I have an access point from above) with some picks but no luck. I know the KD tool 2392 can "screw" into it and pull it. My question is can you pull out the selector shaft without getting at it from below the tranny- i mean do i have to drop the pan to get to the selector shaft to remove it? If i could get the shaft out, the seal would be cake to remove from above with picks.

Thanks for the input in advance, any tips or tircks would be great.
My jeep is just sitting in the driveway:mad: !

You can just knock a little hole in it with a ice pick and then thread in a wood screw and pull it out. Just be careful not to nick the mounting surface side. Take a look at the Carolina full size jeep club website to see the writeup I wrote on how to change that seal.

I couldn't do it. I just dropped the pan and valve body.

Finished the job.

Did'nt buy the tool, nor did I drop the pan.

I got at it from above, crushed the seal in on itself, then pryed it out carefully. slipped the new one in with a spark plug socket and mallet.

worked very well, though I tried to pull it for a while before giving up and prying it out. be careful not to nick the housing.

thanks for your input.
