Might help if you start with what the seller is asking.

You could look for comps on eBay.
Realize that pre-74 will have drum brakes, closed knuckles and a lighter front axle, so that will discount the price some.
Sorry to say, it's probably worth less than you'd like unless it's low mileage and beautiful. Resale is usually disappointing on these. What range were you thinking?
It's all up to what you'll pay for it.
Out here a stock rust free good running 72 you vaguely describe prolly $1000-2000 max ??? Out in the rust belt where they are in worse shape but worth more because 90% of them have since gone back to earth maybe more.
Buying a 35 year old FSJ anywhere isn't an economic/worth issue as in "will I get my money back"...cause you won't. It's a 'heart' thing and usually impulses of the heart are money pits. ;)
In any case plan to spend a lot of time/gas/money/parts/labor...all of the above on it. 72's are running outdated running gear but a cool year though. Love the corner wrap marker lights! Alas but having wrap around marker lights can get expensive. If you've got time/money to spare for a cool project/hobby rig go for it. If you're on a tight budget and "looking for a deal" but still want a reliable daily driver shop for a newer rig.
