Bushwood is going to make the journey to Moab and Ouray this summer, so it's time to build in some protection from the rocks.

My '88 GW has no skid plates. The original gas tank belly pan is hanging on by a couple of thrown together welded straps.

I'm sure no one makes anything (skid plates and rock slides) for the Grand Wagoneers, so I'm wondering if anyone has any good pictures or plans/drawings. I've got friend who's a great welder/fabricator - he can build anything. I just don't want to reinvent the wheel.

Thanks!!!

I don't know of anything floating around here, so I doubt you'd be reinventing anything.

Just use some large pieces of carboard for a template. You can easily test fit, then modify, and test and modify.....till you get it right. Once you've settled on something, then you can have made.

NYC,
I also have problems with the skid plate under the fuel tank. Heavy corrosion with bolts that won't come out because the nut on the blind side just spins. My GW is a 91 and the skid plate is integral to the tank so removal is something you may want to think about. If you are looking for a quick fix I would do what Iron Horse suggest and mount a plate right over the existing one. Other wise you are probably looking at a full days work. Good luck

Give me about two weeks and I will have my prototype bumpers and rocker skids finished and ready for everyones review. I am going to start a small company to cater to our FSJ crowd. I can show you my drawings only for the rocker skids but will have pictures of the bumper by tomorrow. They are going to be sold through my friends 4x4 shop www.crawltech.com (http://www.crawltech.com) so check back with them next week.
